"FACEBOOK EAVESDROPPING ON OUR CONVERSATION" BUT THEY DENIED IT

Facebook has released a statement denying all allegations suggesting that it eavesdrops on our conversations via the mobile app. This is after few news reports which surfaced on the web claiming that Facebook is listening to people's conversations without disclosure what so ever.

Prof Kelli Burns, a professor of mass communications at the University of South Florida, revealed to a popular newspaper that Facebook is secretly listening to user's conversations but declined to provide any concrete evidence.
Stating that the ads displayed on the Facebook app are fetched automatically based on the conversations had over the app.

Facebook took to its app and said  "Facebook does not use your phone's microphone to inform ads or to change what you see in News Feed. Some recent articles have suggested that we must be listening to people's conversations in order to show them relevant ads. This is not true. We show ads based on people's interests and other profile information - not what you're talking out loud about,"

The company sources disclosed that ads are displayed based on the user's general interest and other profile information, which they provided initially. For instance, if a user has indicated interest in Celebrities, then ads based on celebrities related products are displayed and not what they speak over the built-in microphone.
