Periscope announces new features to set up battle with Facebook Live

Periscope announces several new features including broadcast search, save your broadcasts and drone support, the company mentioned that within 2 - 3 weeks its customers will be able to search for broadcasts by title or topic, this was announced by the  Twitter-owned live broadcasting app on Monday in a bid to make the app more appealing. The company made the announcement in a Medium post.
It said, “Everyday, our community creates amazing broadcasts — whether visiting a new place, performing a song, or sparking a passionate discussion. In the coming weeks, we’re launching broadcast search and drone support to help people form communities around the topics they care about and broadcast from new perspectives. We also want to share a preview of our full beyond 24 hours approach that will be available in the coming weeks.”
SOME OF THE FEATURES ANNOUNCED INCLUDE
Search for broadcast
Periscope users will be able to search for broadcasts by title or topic. Previously, users could search for livestreams produced by only people they followed, but with this update, users will be able to expand that to search based on topics or titles—within the global feed. Additionally, Periscope has also added prepopulated topics such as #Travel, #Music, #Food and more.
Save your broadcasts
Apart from search, Periscope will now also allow you to save your videos. Last week, Twitter announced the launch of
a public beta program for you to add #save to your broadcasts to keep them beyond 24 hours. But from now on, all broadcasts will automatically be saved permanently to your Periscope profile and also in tweets. The company’s goal is to give the user full control of their broadcasts. Soon, your broadcasts will be automatically saved on Periscope and Twitter with comments and hearts. And if you change your mind, you can still delete your broadcasts at any time in the post-broadcast screen or in your profile. And, for those who want your broadcasts to be removed after 24 hours, you can easily configure that in your account settings.

Drone support
Periscope is also going after the drone market and has tied up with drone manufacturer DJI. To enable the update, just connect your iPhone to your drone’s remote. During your broadcast, you can narrate using your phone or even sketch on the broadcast to highlight different sights. Anyone with an iPhone and a supported DJI drone will be able to start broadcasting in the coming weeks.
periscope's move comes at a time when facebook is betting big on its own broadcast features (facebook live)
